Close or Cancel a Business Activity

Business Activities will appear as open and active until they are updated to a "Closed" status, read on to learn how to configure close these statuses

Configure a Closed Status Code

Before you can close or cancel a Business Activity, you'll need to configure at least one status as closed and include it as an option for each Business Activity type.

  1. Begin by going to File > Configuration Management. In the Configuration Manager, expand Business Activities > Activity Type. Click Edit at the top of the window.
  2. At the top of the Business Activity Type window, you'll see your configured Business Activity types. Using the arrows on the left hand side of the grid, select the type that needs a closed status.
  3. In the Status code list below, you'll see the status codes that apply to the selected type in the Included column. You'll notice the 5th column down is labeled Closed; Status Codes with this option checked will close a Business Activity when selected.
  4. Click the empty line at the bottom, check Included, Closed & Active and enter in a abbreviated Code and Description for the status. Configure any optional columns as needed and click Save at the top of the window. You may have multiple closed statuses such as Completed or Cancelled.

Close or Cancel a Business Activity

  1. In the Enter Business Activity window, click Edit at the top of the window.
  2. Expand the Status dropdown, and choose a status configured with the closed option enabled, following the instructions above.
  3. Save the Business Activity. The Activity will no longer appear as open in the Activity Manager, List or default Lookup. 

Similar to Sales Orders and Purchase Orders, once a Business Activity has been opened, it cannot be deleted. It can only be marked as closed.
