The error code 0x80072ee7 typically means the Acctivate installer could not resolve a web server name when attempting to download a required component file from the Acctivate Amazon S3 server.

This error may be caused by DNS issues, firewall restrictions, or loss of internet connectivity. Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Verify Internet Access
    Ensure the computer has a stable internet connection. Open a browser and try visiting https://acctivate.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com — you should see a plain XML-style page if access is working.

  2. Flush DNS Cache
    Open Command Prompt from the Windows Start menu and run:

    ipconfig /flushdns
  3. Check Security Software & Firewalls
    Temporarily disable third-party antivirus or firewall software and retry the installation. Ensure that access to *.amazonaws.com is not blocked.
  4. Retry Installation
    Once network access is restored and DNS is working, re-run the Acctivate installer or updater.

If the problem continues, contact your IT support or network administrator to ensure access to external web resources is not restricted.
