Resolving error code 80070666 when installing or updating Acctivate.
Users may encounter error code 80070666 when installing or updating. This error indicates the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable component is failing to install. This article will provide different methods to resolve the error.
There are several reasons the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable component can fail to install:
- There is a pending windows update
- The Visual C++ package was damaged
- There is another Visual C++ installation already present
If you encounter error 80070666 , you may try the following steps to resolve:
Method 1: Update Your Windows System
- Check if there are any pending Windows updates. If there are, install them.
- After the windows update, run the Acctivate installer again
Method 2: Repair Microsoft Visual C++ 2015
- Navigate to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features
- Look for the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable
- If it exists, right click Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable > Change > Repair
- Once the Microsoft Visual C++ repair is finished running, retry the Acctivate Installation
Method 3: Uninstall All Current Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Packages
If Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable is not already installed but there are different versions:
- Navigate to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features
- Look for Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable
- Uninstall all current Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable packages that are already installed
- Reboot computer
- Re-run the Acctivate Installation
