A new version of Acctivate has been installed and the database must be updated.

Occasionally, Acctivate software updates may include changes to database definitions which require updating the database. This process requires that all users log out of Acctivate.

A database update only needs to be performed once and must be performed by an Acctivate user with the system administrator permission. Users without the system administrator permission will not be able to continue with the update process. Instead, ask a system administrator to log in to start the database update.

When a database update is required and no other users are logged in, you will receive the following message when logging into your Acctivate company:

A new version of Acctivate has been installed and the database must be updated. Would you like to update the database now?

If users are logged in, then the message will include the users who are logged in. For example:

A new version of Acctivate has been installed and the database must be updated.

The following users are still logged into {company}
{user} {workstation}

Please ask them to log out and try again.

It is recommended that you ask the user to log out so that they have a chance to save their work. After they log out, click Retry.

Alternatively, you may use the Force Log Out button. This will end all the logged in sessions in the list, however users will not be given a chance to save their work.

Note

The option to log users out was introduced in Acctivate version 13.0 and therefore the Force Log Out option only appears if all the logged in workstations are on version 13.0 or later.

Refer to our log off users Knowledge Base for more information.

You will be prompted to make a backup. After creating a backup, the update process will continue until it completes.

You have now updated your installation of Acctivate and users may log in.
