Configure the email display name used for emails sent from the Gmail integration

Gmail’s “Send mail as” feature lets you configure a display name instead of the full email address. Emails sent through Acctivate don’t use this name by default, but you can configure the integration so they do.

If you look through your inbox, you may notice that some emails display name (e.g., Customer Service) instead of the full email address (e.g., customerservice@email.com).

This is due to Gmail's "Send mail as" option which allows you to use a friendly name in lieu of the full email address.

If Gmail is integrated with Acctivate, emails sent from Acctivate will be delivered with full email address as the "From" address. If you'd like emails to use a display name, you can configure the email addresses in Acctivate following these steps:

  1. Follow the Gmail integration steps.
  2. After integrating, change the email address in the email configuration screen to be formatted as Display Name<address@email.com>

Using the previous example, after performing the Gmail integration steps, the email field in the user or company configuration screen would populate with customerservice@email.com. Simply change the field to include the display name, Customer Service, and format the field as Customer Service<customerservice@email.com>

With this change, your customers will see the display name in their inbox.
