# How Acctivate handles Data Redaction from webstores.

## Both eBay and Shopify offer their customers a way to request their personal data be redacted once it's no longer needed to process the customer's order.

Acctivate integrates with some of the largest and most popular ecommerce platforms on the market, including eBay and Shopify. 

Both eBay and Shopify offer their customers a way to request their personal data be redacted once it's no longer needed to process the customer's order.

The web store sync with eBay and Shopify will include a check to see if any customer has requested their data be redacted. If any such request exists, Acctivate will flag that customer's open Acctivate records, listed below, as pending redaction. 

The web store sync will also process the pending redaction requests. Any sales orders and related records that are completed and pending redaction will have the customer's sensitive data redacted.

In a QuickBooks Online company, if the email address has been updated to "Redacted", it will be synchronized to QuickBooks Online as "​redacted@redacted.invalid", since QuickBooks Online requires an RFC822-compliant address.
