  1. Identify Compressed Directories
    The error often occurs when the following directories are compressed.
    • C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server

  2. Check for Compression
    • Open File Explorer and navigate to each of the directories listed above.
    • Right-click on the folder and select Properties.
    • In the General tab, click on Advanced.
    • If the option "Compress contents to save disk space" is checked, the folder is compressed.
  3. Decompress the Directories

    • Uncheck the "Compress contents to save disk space" option
