How Pricing by Units of Measure Work in Acctivate.

Acctivate has a variety of options that allow you to sell in one unit and price in a different unit.  These options also include length and weight. You can price by Unit, Standard Weight/Length, or Variable Weight/Length.

Acctivate has a variety of options that allow you to sell in one unit and price in a different unit.  These options also include length and weight.

First, you must define which of the following scenarios applies to your business:

Sold by Priced by Recommendation Notes
Unit Unit Standard Unit Pricing Selling by one unit and price by another unit.
Piece Standard Weight/Length Standard Weight/Length Pricing Each piece has the same, standard weight/length.
Piece Variable Weight/Length Variable Weight/Length Pricing Sell by piece, price by a variable weight/length.

Standard Unit Pricing

With standard unit pricing, there are no additional conversions needed for an item that is stocked by one unit and sold by another unit that has a defined relationship with the stocking unit, whether a standard relationship or a Product Specific Relationship.  Simple prices are used.

Multiple Units of Measure are supported. For example, one item may be stocked by Ea, sold by the Cs and priced by Ea. The product may have a standard (or product specific) relationship that indicates there are always a set number of Ea in a Case. For example, your sales unit of Cs would equal 15 Ea. Selling one Cs would result in 15 Ea being priced and removed from inventory. See our articles on Configuring Units and Units of Measure for a Product

Standard Weight/Length Pricing

Items that are stocked by a piece unit (e.g., Each) with a standard weight per piece (e.g. 10 Lb/ea).  Sales orders can be entered with the quantity in pieces, but prices are calculated the unit weight. This same configuration and relationship can be done by length rather than weight.

Variable Weight/Length Pricing (Including Catch Weights)

This is very similar to Standard Weight Pricing, but the weight varies per piece.  Sales orders are still entered with the quantity in pieces and priced by the unit weight.  However, the weight may be adjusted per sales order. See our Stock by piece and sell by weight article.

Acctivate also supports catch weight pricing.  This allows the weight of each piece to be captured.  This feature requires the item to be serial or lot numbered.  The weight for each lot number will be selected and the sales order pricing will be based on the total weight.

This same configuration and relationship can be done by length rather than weight.
