Acctivate allows users to configure default values for some of required product fields.  These defaults are located in the Inventory Options section of Configuration Management, and can be accessed by going to **File \> Configuration Management \> Inventory \> Inventory Options**. ![product defaults 1](https://help.acctivate.com/wp-content/uploads/product-defaults-1.png) We recommend that you select the most commonly used values.  **Some of these product attributes (Stocking Unit, Control Type, or Cost Method) cannot be changed once you have entered transactions.**Therefore, you may want to remove the default value and require users to carefully select the proper value for each new product. -
