Set Up Yahoo Email in Acctivate with SMTP

Use the SMTP email settings in Acctivate to configure Yahoo email.

Yahoo email setup in Acctivate requires an SMTP connection. To connect the email to Acctivate, use the Yahoo-generated App Password. Read the Yahoo article on configuring SMTP or generating a 3rd party app password for more information.

Configure Acctivate Company email settings for Yahoo 

Consider configuring a shared "company" email address that can be used by all Acctivate users to send emails.  This is optional.  It is recommended that you leave the default Company Email Settings as SMTP, then skip to Section 3 to configure the email credentials for each user.

  1. Log in to Acctivate as a user with Admin permissions (e.g. SYS)
  2. Open Configuration Management from the File menu
  3. Expand the Company folder on the left and click Company Info
  4. Click Edit on the Toolbar
    • SMTP Server: [ smtp.mail.yahoo.com ]
    • Port: [ 465 ] if using SMTP over LLS encryption or [ 587 ] if using STARTTLS encryption
    • Encryption: [ SMTP over SSL (SMTPS) ] or [ STARTTLS ]
    • ] Authentication Required
    • Username [ CompanyAccountOffice365Account@YourCompany.com ]
    • Password [ CompanyAccountOffice365Password ]
      Note:  If using Third Party App Passwords, use the generated 3rd party password instead of the standard email password
    • Select the SMTP option 
  5. Click Save on the toolbar
  6. All users should restart Acctivate before sending an email

Set up Email Accounts for Each User

When using this setup, each user must use the email address setup in Configuration Management. You will need to set up the Email credentials for each user.

  1. Log in to Acctivate as a user with Admin permissions (e.g. SYS)
  2. Open Configuration Management from the File menu
  3. Expand the User folder on the left and click User Information
  4. Click Edit on the Toolbar
  5. Select the User in the Acctivate Users list
  6. Verify the Email Address matches the Yahoo account of the user
  7. Change the Email settings to Personal
  8. Scroll down and select the SMTP option
    • SMTP Server: [ smtp.mail.yahoo.com ]
    • Port: [ 465 ] if using SMTP over LLS encryption or [ 587 ] if using STARTTLS encryption
    • Encryption: [ SMTP over SSL (SMTPS) ] or [ STARTTLS ]
    • ] Authentication Required
    • Username [ UserAccountOffice365Account@YourCompany.com ]
    • Password [ UserAccountOffice365Password ]
      Note:  If using Third Party App Passwords, use the generated 3rd party password instead of the standard email password
  9. Repeat for each User
  10. Click Save on the toolbar
  11. All users should restart Acctivate before sending an email
