"Unable to open a connection to the database to run the report." error when trying to run a report
This error can be received when trying to run a report in Acctivate, and the fix can often be quite simple.
The "Unable to open a connection to the database to run the report." error can sometimes be received when a user tries to run a report in Acctivate. When this occurs, the error is often circumvented, allowing the report to run, by following these steps:
- Go to File > Manage Reports, and navigate to the location of the report that is unable to run
- Click the 'Check out report' button, and choose a location to save the .RPT file to on your computer, such as the Desktop or Downloads folder
- Click the 'Check in report' button, and select that same file you just checked out
- On the popup that asks if you would like to overwrite the existing file, select 'Yes'
- Run the report again, and you should no longer receive the error, and the report should run
