Using Crystal Reports in Acctivate

Crystal Reports is a 3rd party report-writing software sold by the SAP Store. Acctivate uses a free read-only version of the software. To manage your own reports, please purchase Crystal Reports. See below for more on this topic.

Acctivate uses a 3rd party report software, Crystal Reports, to display all reports, forms, labels, and barcodes in the program. Crystal Reports in Acctivate is only available as a read-only form. To make report changes or customizations, there are a few options listed here. However, if you decide to use Crystal Reports, below are resources you may need to get your report(s) to work within Acctivate.

Using Crystal Reports in Acctivate

Purchase Crystal Reports
If you are interested in purchasing Crystal Reports, buy it directly from SAP, the developers of the program, using the link above. If you wish to purchase the software, we recommend using the current version. Read more on which versions are compatible here.

Connect Acctivate to Crystal Reports

To create a new report or modify an existing report, you will need to connect the report to your database. Please read more on this here. Once connected, you can start making report changes using the Acctivate company database.

To sign into the SQL database in Crystal Reports, use the SQL database user and password. The default User is below. Contact our Support Team if you do not know the default password. After adding the Server, user ID, and Password, you should see the database in the dropdown menu.

User ID: sa

Server: ComputerName\ACCTIVATE
NOTE: ComputerName is the computer running SQL Server for Acctivate

Save and Add the Report to Acctivate

Once the report changes are made, to view the changes in Acctivate, save the report in the Custom Reports folder. Please note, you cannot make form changes and save the report to the standard report folder. Only standard forms with no changes should be in this folder. Once you make any report change, add it to the custom report folder. For new reports, also add the report definition in Acctivate. Read about the Custom Report folder and new report definitions here.

Custom Reports Folder: \\{ServerName}\AcctivateData\CustomReports

Standard Reports Folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Acctivate\Reports\Letter
